According to the Ministry of the Environment, the Peruvian territory is home to 469 species of reptiles, between terrestrial and aquatic.
In our country, it is possible to find reptiles in the jungle (as is the case with alligators and snakes), but also in other ecosystems (such as sea turtles), or even in Andean regions or desert areas (for example, in the north of the certain species of lizards live in the country).
THE CROCODILE OF TUMBES
One of the animals that is in greatest danger of extinction is the Tumbes crocodile. For this reason, different organizations protect it in Peru and the world, and today it appears on the one sol coins to raise awareness about its status.
