Known as the Inca's peanut, Sacha Inchi is a plant native to the Peruvian Amazon. It is said that Sacha Inchi was highly valuable or its properties since pre-Columbian times. The fact is evidenced by PromPeru’s data repository were said that this shrub plant was cultivated during the Inca empire over 3000–5000 years ago. Sacha Inchi was portrayed in phytomorphic ancient artifacts in Inca's graves at the Peruvian Coast. Also, it is said that Sacha Inchi was later taken to the Antiusyo—one of the four territorial divisions of the original Inca empire located in the Amazon region. Sacha inchi oil (Plukenetia volubilis linneo) is used as a regenerator and moisturizer, especially for sensitive skin. The oil is extracted from the sacha inchi seeds, which undergoes a deodorization process (without odor). This contains some nutrients rich in essential fatty acids (Omega 3, 6, and 9), antioxidants, and vitamins A and E.
